This is one tough bird to photograph. An adult male Painted Bunting is arguably the most distinctive songbird in North America, with the combination of a deep blue head, red underparts, a green back, and a red rump. It likes low scrub brush and seems to know when there is someone like me out there with a camera. It hops from branch to branch playing hide-and-seek and rarely settles in so I can get a focus on it. Stupid bird!
