Howling Coyote

This was a gift. The photo gods were very generous this day. Snapped this guy in early spring hunting for rodents beneath the snow. They jump in the air, arching their backs and then plunging head first in to the frozen snow (ouch!). I've seen foxes do the same thing. Watched him hunting (and eating) for almost 15 minutes. He ignored the ducks in the creek so I assume he did not consider them a food source...at least while they are in that freezing water. All bets are off if they're on land!
